RE: rving with a cat

We travel with three cats (all age 13) a dog and a parakeet. Back seat of the extended cab is kind of packed but can't go without the furballs!

RE: Planning a Fall trip to New England

Mount Washington and Mt Washington Valley in New Hampshire, the Conway area in New Hampshire. If you have time, Rockland, Bar Harbor or Boothbay Harbor in Maine. There is an auto road up to the top of Mt Washington where there is a tour of the weather observatory that is a "don't miss". Make sure to bring warm clothes, because the valley could be nice and warm, but on the top of the mountain, it gets quite cold.

RE: screen repairs

How about fishing line and a darning needle? Our screen house took a ride in the wind last summer and I stitched it up with fishing line. Actually couldn't even really see the repairs unless you were looking for them.

RE: Open door & wind question

Maybe put a foam block or stuffed pillow between the door and the side of the RV to put a little tension on it so that there's no play when the wind blows up. I just don't like listening to the rattle, when you can listed to the sounds of nature! The roadrunners are probably taking care of some of the smaller snakes so they don't get too big. Haven't done any camping South or West yet. No poisonous snakes or bugs in Northern New England, but will be getting our feet wet soon.

RE: How do I remove bug spray from the outside of RV?

Try Greased Lightning (Walmart or Home Depot) Seems like it will take off pretty much anything, unless, like the previous post says its baked on into the gelcoat.

RE: Belfast or Bucksport, Maine

The Moorings Oceanfront R.V. Resort (www.mooringscamp.com) is right in Belfast, ME. I haven't stayed there, but have seen pics and it looks pretty nice. They do have about 50 full hookups. Depending when you guys want to go, if it's peak season, better book pretty soon. There are also a lot of really pretty sights in the Camden, Rockland area and a lot of ocean front access-parks, light houses and schooner boat rides etc. We have stayed in Rockland at Megunticook Campground by the Sea (www.campgroundbythesea.com.) Has a really nice garden and trail down to the cliffs and a beautiful waterfall into the ocean. The campsites are a little close, but overall not too bad since we were out and about and not there for the campground esthetics. Sorry for not building links into the reply. . .

RE: Tile in the oven

I was told by a small grocery store owner that did their own pies that you put the baked item on the lowest shelf in the oven for less browning. I've tried a pizza stone and didn't seem to help, even with my pizza. The air-bake sheets actually take longer for browning, as I have tried cookies in the oven that calls for 15-17 minutes and they still don't brown after 20 minutes??? Try lowering the shelf first.

RE: How do you handle situations like this?

Maybe people with really large dogs should be able to handle them in a social situation, or not get in that situation in the first place. What could you do because that person couldn't handle their dog? Just as you did-pick up the appetizer and hope the other little one on the ground can get to cover before it becomes the entree. I recently adopted a rescue pup and she is extremely shy and fearful of other people and dogs. Of course, they don't know that, but they should first ask if they can approach your dog before they come over to you. This was also taught in our recent dog training class, which I would recommend for all dog owners because it also teaches social etiquette for dog owners as well.

I have mine mounted with velcro just above the folding grab bar for the stairs. Can't fold the bar up without removing the sensor.

RE: orginization tips needed

I bought those plastic individual cutlery trays that you put in kitchen drawers for your silverware to use in the medicine cabinet. keeps everything from falling out when you open the door from medicine bottles to the dental floss. I haven't needed to, but I guess you could velcro them onto the shelves. I bought a 6" x 8" fabric lined basket to put all the bottles of mouth wash, baby powder, etc and it sits on the shelf behind the "throne".

RE: Fencing For Pets

Camping World has collapsible fencing for pets. My sister in law uses it with her two shelties and hasn't had any problems. You can buy as many sections as you want for the area to cover.

RE: Kitchen Slides

I had a problem in our last TT where the power cords in the slide would hang up on the connection box. DH just went in and under the sink and built a wire holder-while he was at it, built a couple of extra shelves for storage.

RE: Maine fishing Tips

Take a quick trip to LL Bean and the guys in the fishing section should be able help you. They might be able to recommend a rod and reel to get you started. I know the expense involved with fly fishing cuz DH probably owns about all LL Bean has to offer, but there are some affordable to get you started. Whereabouts on Orrs Island are you planning to stay?

RE: Attaching items to the wall??

I've been using adhesive backed velcro and haven't had any problems with it damaging the walls. The only problem is sometimes the dampness in the TT will loosen the velcro and the hanging will fall. For those heavier objects, I've used the industrial strength velcro but haven't tried removing that yet.

RE: Savoy vs. Starwood

We have a 2006 Starwood 29 ft TT rear living, front bedroom with the pass thru bath. I nagged poor DH for this TT specifically for the bathroom. We love all the features, the quality, etc. We had a Gulfstream TT before and the quality in the Starwood is superior. Sorry I can't compare to the Savoy. Their website leads me to believe there's not much difference in the Savoy to the Starwood. One option we have on the Starwood is the built in tank flush (which, by the way was plumbed backwards at the factory.) Highly recommend this option because my DH is no longer crabby (crappy?) Good luck on your decision.

RE: Looking for campground recommendations in Northeast

Try Megunticook By the Sea in Rockland, ME or, Little Ponderosa Campground in Boothbay Harbor ME. Not a lot of frills, but the locations are great for the areas you want to explore. Megunticook has quite a few pull thrus, and a beautiful waterfront park right on the ocean. Little Ponderosa has a service that will drive you into Boothbay Harbor and spend the day checking out the shops or catch a boat out for whale watching etc.

RE: Apple IPOD Software~how easy/costs?

Love my IPOD and the ease of using it. I am not computer literate and if I can do it. Just got a home theater system that has a dock that we can play IPOD, Nano, or MP3 and that's really great.
